Our Umbrian dream takes root
For years, we dreamed of owning a home in Italy. In 2021, we took a meaningful step toward that dream by committing to life in Umbria and obtaining an elective residency visa to live there full-time. (more about this process another time) Although circumstances eventually called us back to California, the pull of Umbria never faded. Now, after more than five years, we’ve embraced a new chapter—splitting our time between California and Umbria, and fully immersing ourselves in the beauty and rhythm of this remarkable region.
Navigating our Italian home search & keeping the dream alive for others
When we first moved to Italy in 2021 and, five years later, purchased our vacation home, we found ourselves navigating a system that felt unfamiliar and, at times, overwhelming. While we don’t live there full-time, we spend extended periods in Italy throughout the year—making the most of the time allowed under the Schengen rules. That journey has given us a deep understanding of both the challenges and the beauty of this transition. Now we’re here to share our story—the trials, the triumphs, and everything in between—and to help others keep their dream of Italy alive.

Our vision for Maggie in Umbria is to let it evolve naturally— grounded in authentic connection, genuine experiences, and some fun along the way!
